Obviously, I haven’t written anything here in quite some time now. I’ve been a little busy lately with my parents. Dad has been pretty sick. He’s better now, but has spent more than a month in the hospital in the past 3 months.
Yesterday, I installed Mandrake Linux v9.0 on my Compaq 5900Z. It was as easy an install as Windows is. It found all of my hardware, including the Maxtor External 40g HDD connected via USB!
I can read the files on the external HDD. I downloaded OpenOffice and read my CB2003.xls file that was created in Microsoft Excel in the OpenOffice spreadsheet program. It read the file fine and didn’t lose any of the formatting!
I guess I need to start looking at getting more software off the Internet for Linux.
