Test of Windows Live Writer

I just finished downloading Windows Live Writer and I wanted to see how it works, so I will testing a few items.  The first will be inserting a link.  I will put a link to my personal web site:

Paul’s Midnight Retreat

Well, that was nice and easy.  It puts the text in and I can have it open the link with a new page (vice using the blog site page).  Now I will try to insert a small photo:

So this is a photo of the flag.  I use it for my personal icon in Windows Vista and my IM client.  So far I like how this works.  Now to insert a tag.  I’m not exactly sure what it’s going to tag, but here it goes:

LiveJournal tags: ,

OK, now I’m going to insert a map.  I don’t know where the map data comes from, but I will try to put a map here to my home:

Well, that’s pretty impressive!  The map insert comes from Live.Earth.  I really like this feature because I could create a blog with maps to our customers locations for all the drivers to use (if they had access to the Internet).

OK, this is a new extension to Live Writer.  It allows to inserts events.  I haven’t used it, so I don’t know what it will ask or how it will show up on the blog.  I’m going to try to insert an event for Thanksgiving (since it’s coming up fast).

What: Thanksgiving
My favorite holiday. Normally, you get both Thursday and Friday off, along with your normal weekend. There’s no pressure for buying gifts for anyone, only to visit family and have a great time. How could not love Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect holiday!
When: Thursday, November 23, 2006 9:00 AM
Where: Paul and Kathy’s

138 Valerie Lane
Sherman, TX 75092   USA

Oh, that is really nice.  It can become a formal invitation.  I really like the possibilities with this extension!

And there you have it.  A new post using Windows Live Writer on my LiveJournal account and the plug-in’s that are available to it.  I think that if someone was serious about blogging, this would be the solution for them.
