Dean and I teamed on our last run and was broke down for 4 days and 3 nights. That was not good for my pocketbook. We are in Oregon today, waiting to pick up our load going to Winchester, VA. This will be a good run, but we got to our pick up a day early. I guess that’s OK, though it doesn’t help my pocketbook again. I want to see how this run is going to do for my pocketbook. If it does good, then I’m willing to continue. If I can’t make enough money doing this, I may have to find another job.
I keep thinking about Trucker Tom (Tom Wiles). He drives for Schaffer. When he stops and has to set for a while waiting on a load, he is still making a little money with his podcast. It makes me wonder if I shouldn’t be trying to do the same type of thing. If I did, it would probably mean working for someone else and the need to purchase another laptop computer to be able to handle writing on the web site. I’d probably have to purchase a camera and/or video camera for recording my exploits around the country.
I don’t know about this. I would have to have a specific subject that I would talk about and hope there is some interest in people wanting to hear what I have to say. I’d have to be better at writing and updating my blog. That is a chore in itself? Well, this can’t be done while I am working as a team. I guess I need to dream on and start planning this. It won’t ever go anywhere if I don’t plan the thing.
The other biggest hurdle of this is convincing or justifying that this idea is a sound idea, to my wonderful wife. This is really a good thing, because, most of the time, if she doesn’t like it, it’s probably not a good idea. So my first action is to do a little planning to see how to make this work, then the second action is to talk with Kathy about it. The progress I make on the second action determines if there are any more actions and we move forward.
Keep the shiny side up! God bless Texas!
